WESCO's 2020 GPN Summit Encourages Virtual Collaboration

Stay Informed

For the first time ever, WESCO’s annual Government Partner Network (GPN) Summit was held virtually. The event took place in October 2020, and it provided a venue for collaboration between suppliers, GPN partners, and members of our Commercial, Institutional, and Government (CIG) team.

During a three-week period from October 20-November 6, WESCO hosted educational sessions presented by Axis Communications, the National Cooperative Procurement Partners (NCPP), and industry subject matter experts. In addition, our partner firms had the opportunity to sign up for one-on-one meetings with WESCO's Government Leadership team.

GPN Partners Meet with WESCO Government Leadership Team

Our GPN partners include MBE, SDB, VBE, SDVOSB, WOSB, 8(a), and HUBZone government contractors. Each partner had the opportunity to meet with our Government leadership team to discuss opportunities, COVID-19 response, and 2021 planning. A recent study by Deltek indicates that the top three business development challenges for government contractors in 2020 include limited business development resources, a customer using contract vehicles they are not associated with, and increased competition. WESCO's GPN Summit is structured to help government contractors tackle those industry challenges.

Our GPN partners can take advantage of WESCO's cooperative contracts and business development resources by being part of our Government Partner Network. In addition, partners benefit from cost savings gained through supplier consolidation, logistics services, and supply chain solutions, which creates competitive advantage on the federal, state, and local government opportunities.

“Relationships are key to business development because they facilitate identification of opportunities and a wide range of diverse contract vehicles,” as mentioned in the Deltek article.

Educational Content Sessions

Our GPN partners attended three educational content sessions with a goal to provide attendees with multiple perspectives on the market. WESCO’s Lee Osterman, Vice President, CIG kicked off the event discussing the GPN program, and Ed Malinowski, WESCO, Strategic Account Manager, discussed federal market trends and opportunities. Tammy Rimes, National Cooperative Procurement Partners (NCPP) Executive Director, presented, “Who Moved My Office?” and how 2020 has affected government teams. Lastly, Axis Communications discussed “What is going on in Government with Axis Communications?” including GSA contracts, current government trends, and their Axis Body Worn Solution.
